Our heater completely broke 2 days before Christmas! R&W came to the rescue despite having never been a customer before. They were recommended to us and they did not disappoint! They came out on Christmas Eve to figure out the heater was cracked. They ordered the unit and as soon at in came in they installed on New Year's eve! They were fantastic to work with...the install staff were super kind and a delight to work with. We are so happy that we replaced both the heater AND AC unit! I'd give them 10 stars if I could. Rick installed and maintained our furnace over 30 years ago, a decade before starting this business. More recently his workers have replaced our furnace and, just days ago, our oil tank. The workers manage tight situations and are always very courteous and respectful. You can count on Rick for sound advice. Best of all, their work is always praised by our town's inspector.

Our AC died in the middle of a brutal heat wave, and initially we scheduled an appointment for service for about a week out, and they put us on the cancellation list in case anything came up sooner. Within hours I had a call back letting me know that a technician was available in our area. He came out and fixed the issue in under an hour! The receptionist was so friendly and helpful, and the technician was knowledgeable and efficient. We will definitely be using this company again for regular service and maintenance.

Honest and efficient!After dealing with another company, who had been at my property 4 times to fix my furnace and it would keep tripping, I called R&W and they came quickly, charged HALF the hourly rate of the other company and FIXED the furnace in 20 minutes!

They charge way too much and may suggest unnecessary repairs.I paid well over $200 for them to come out and look at my furnace. For this, I would expect the technician to be testing everything and find out where the issue is. However, they took less than 15 minutes to diagnose the "issue" of a bad pressure switch and inducer assembly, which was my layman initial observation. This was not the problem.My actual issue ended up being with the control board. Instead of spending the time to figure out what the problem was, it was easier for them to suggest replacing what seemed to be broken upon first glance and go from there. Specifically, the pressure switch ended up being completely fine and did not need to be replaced. The inducer was a bit loud, but it was not the source of the problem.The quote for parts and labor was outrageously expensive. When I called to question the pricing, I was told they made a mistake and overcharged me by a hundred dollars. What if I didn't say anything? They were even trying to upsell me on stuff I really didn't need. I was rather skeptical and decided to shop elsewhere.I called a different company. It was about half the price to do the same job with the same parts. They were out in two days and replaced the inducer + switch. When the replacements didn't fix the issue, they found the actual problem (control board) and fixed it in the same day. All of this for less than the original quote from R&W.After seeing a fantastic technician from a different company go through the process of tediously checking every wire of the control board to correctly discern the problem, I cannot in good faith say that R&W will provide you with quality service.I am glad that I called a different company. I cannot imagine the price I would have paid for them to replace a control board, if they even figured out that problem at all.

R & W Heating recently replaced our old 24 year old propane furnace and all associated piping, pumps, and controls with a new Viessmann high efficiency floor standing gas boiler. From start to finish every aspect of the work was professional, courteous, well designed, and done with great skill and attention to detail. The new heating system looks great and the performance is much better and more efficient (95 percent) than the old one. Everyone at R&W Heating was a pleasure to speak to and work with on the project. They explained everything and answered all of our questions. We are very satisfied with our new heating system! If your looking for the best at a fair price you just found them!

Several of our neighbors in our Colchester community have used R&W Heating Energy Solutions for different needs in their homes. They indicated to me that if I needed any kind of service that R&W provided to hire them because they were a “top-notch“ company to do business with.When my brother indicated to me that he needed his hot air and AC ducts cleaned, I recommended R&W Heating. Professional, outstanding, honest, and reliable are just a few words to describe my experience with this company. Furnace would not run, had no heat and with two small children it made for a bad situation. Not being a customer, they sent out a tech within 2 hours. Ray met me at my front door with a smile on his face and immediately made me feel calmer about the situation. An hour and a half later, he was leaving and my furnace was back up and running in better condition than before. The price was fair and reasonable. They have my business from here on out, I couldn't have asked for a better experience for an emergency situation. Big kudos to the tech, Ray, he was a breath of fresh air and we hope to see him for our yearly maintenance cleanings.

If I could give a zero I would. Came out and said my furnace was beyond repair. Yes it's old, yes it's been 2 years since they serviced it. They didn't even bother to see what was wrong because it's old and hadn't been serviced in a long time(2 years and they were the ones who serviced it last). Charged me $160 to lie to me. The guy who came out said something different than the office person I just talked to. It took Riley 's 15 minutes and one part to get the furnace going. Shame on R&W for the misinformation. Mind you when I first called them I told them the furnace was old... so why not just tell me then they wouldn't work in it?

Little late on this review, but early enough for those planning on their ac split unit installs for our next summer. One, punctual, two, cost in the budget, and three service. Showed up for estimate. Price was where I expected for a 15k handler and one indoor unit, and three, on time, flawless install. Electrician is separate arrangement, but their recommendation, was spot on. Install was 2021. And if I call Rw , they would be here first since they installed. SE CT, these are your people. Give them a chance, you won't be disappointed.

Seems like they try to upcharge as best they can each time they come out to service your furnace. Keep in mind this part of it was manageable but the last service call they charged me almost 600 bucks for a cleaning... understandably I did make a blunder by not being there the first time so they "had" to come back to do the cleaning which I don't understand because I didn't have any outstanding balances with them and I was a loyal customer to them and when I tried to catch a small break on the price so I didn't pay 600 for a cleaning they acted like it wasn't negotiable... everything is negotiable and they didn't try to see my perspective mind you... I live 3 miles from the store so it's not like they went out of their way exponentially!

I should have read the reviews from this company before hiring them. They overcharged for a replacement part I needed by over $300 (the part costs $129 online, they charged me $475). I will never use this service again, and neither should anyone.

I have used R&W Heating for years and have been more than satisfied each time they come out. I use them for regular maintenance for both my furnace and A/C as well as dryer vent cleaning. I will never forget 2019 when my furnace stopped working on a cold Christmas Eve. No matter, R&W came out over the holiday and installed a new furnace for me. Their staff, mechanics and apprentices are always professional thoughtful and respectful. I have also had them install new thermostats and a humidifier. When my hot water heater blew, I wanted a heat pump replacement. R&W worked hand in hand with my electrician to install it. In short, they are a fantastic company to do business with in all capacities. I recommend them highly!

A few weeks ago I noticed that Condensate Water was leaking onto the basement floor from my Air Handler. I investigated and determined that the vertical drain pan had corroded and was leaking. Called R&W to get a quote and gave them all the info, Model Numbers/Part Numbers etc. They said they would have to schedule an inspection for $228. We scheduled the appointment for fist available time (2 weeks), they arrived on time, spent 10 minutes to tell me what I already knew. They took down the model number(which I already gave them) and charged me $228. One week later I received the quote. $700 for a new drain pan and $250 per hour with an estimated 3 hour to install. I told them $700 was excessive as I could buy OEM for $262 with tax and shipping. They said $700 was their price. I told them I bought the $262 drain pan and if they would quote installing it. They declined. They are overpriced, and appears to make excessive markup on their material.

R and W Heating does not disappoint! During the past heating season, my furnace went off like a gunshot, filled the house with black smoke, and definitely required an experienced technician to get it up and running again. No worries, R and W sent one of the most senior techs, Greg, and an apprentice to deal with the issue. From the moment they arrived until the moment they left, and for all In between I knew I was being taken very good care of. They identified the problem quickly, stayed on task diligently, and fixed my issue like magic, I had heat again! Beyond the service, the personnel were friendly, knowledgeable, and satisfaction oriented. All was explained in easy to understand terms, and the end result continues to be superior operating of my heating system. I could not have been happier with service from R and W, so happy I chose to use them, and will continue to do so for regular maintaining and not just service! Thank you R and W, one of my most favorite family businesses!

I cannot say enough good things about R&W Heating. We’ve been using them for the last 2 years for annual checks on our boiler. Just recently, our boiler, which was the original built in this house, at over 30 years old, started to give us trouble and began leaking. Rather than just putting a bandaid and fixing something that would most likely be needing a full replacement anyway, we decided to install a new system altogether. The staff at R&W were extremely helpful throughout the entire process. From Ashlee in the office assisting with paperwork and quotes and Rick coming over and spending time to talk to us about the process, our options, and explaining the way the system actually works, to Greg and the other techs that came and did the install in the amount of time promised, we couldn’t be happier. Techs were on time, phone calls and emails always returned quickly. The boiler runs way quieter than our old one, is more efficient and we couldn’t be happier with this whole process. We will continue to use this company for our annual check up and any repairs and would recommend R&W Heating to anyone.

I cannot even begin to tell you how wonderful R&W is. My husband and I decided this was the year we wanted to get rid of our huge, loud window AC and switch to a ductless A/C system. R&W from the first phone call was wonderful, informative and responsive. We had reached out to other companies but just didn't feel great about them (or couldn't even get a call back.) with R&W I got to speak with people in the office, and the techs that came to install and everyone was great and knowledgeable. We initially were only planning on putting units in part of the house, but after going over everything decided to do our entire house. We are so happy with the install and how well the system works. I highly recommend R&W - they are a great group of people.

Called because I wasn't getting heat in one zone. Guy came out, diagnosed it in about 2 minutes. Couple days later, same problem.Second guy came out, he wasn't sure, said it might be the circulator. Told me that the first guy's training, "was 90% air conditioning."Stopped payment on the check and called first thing on Monday morning. No response. I called back a week later, then got a call back. Owner said he called the next day but my voicemailbox was full (it wasn't).Once I spoke with the owner, I claimed the problem was misdiagnosed, he said it wasn't and that the technician followed the proper protocol for what was wrong, yet I still had the same zone with no heat. My issue was that the technician was so sure about the problem, nothing like, "we can try and do this," or, "this may be the problem." They wound up replacing the expansion tank. The 2nd technician said that line didn't even go into the expansion tank.After what was basically a shouting match, he threatened to take me to small claims court. Careful with these guys if you use them, I wouldn't.

I purchased a Viessmann heating system costing me approx. $12,000.00 two years ago. So far the motherboard had to be replaced twice , the fan in the can stopped working and it was not humming …it just stopped running altogether and now the circulator is humming so loud it radiates throughout my home and keeps me up at night. I calmly discussed my concerns, on how I felt this all should be covered with Rick the owner, and his voice escalated and he began screaming at me. My son overheard the conversation on speaker. I’ve owned a business since 1980. Customers are always right. You treat everyone with respect and they become your family. I’m not sure what to do because I cannot afford nor do I want to keep repairing this brand new system. What’s next ….? And I do not owe money.. A reputable honest owner of a business, should stand by their product if the parts are faulty. It may be a bit of a loss but it is so worth it in the long run. A satisfied customer that will refer your services to the community is what it’s all about. The opportunity was given to me with having to pay for brand new components and pay for labor. I’m not understanding the fairness here. I really don’t feel anyone feels my frustration at all. I’m a self employed single mother that purchased a brand new heating system that continuously has problems.

I researched companies in the area who where Mitsubishi or Fujitsu Dealers and found R&W the best choice. From estimating to installation of two heat pumps with ductwork and all, this is the best I have experienced having been in the refrigeration business myself for over 40 years. The mechanics are super and very knowledgeable about everything they did. I would recommend them highly .

We had a water heater installed to our existing boiler and from the estimate all the way through install Rick and Kyle went above what I had expected. They were professional and made sure to answer all the questions I had. Very knowledgeable about the system and how to optimize what I currently had to address the lack of hot water I was experiencing. Kyle went as far as labeling what each valve/line did and how to switch the system from boiler fed to the cold water feed. Highly recommended using R&W Heating. Great local family owned business. 👍🏻

We would HIGHLY recommend R&W Heating. A former building inspector recommended the company to us to get our boiler replaced with a high efficiency model. Rick gave us a lot of information with price options, the office staff was really organized and responsive, and it was super easy to set up a Smart-E Loan through Core Plus to finance the boiler. We will definitely reach out to them for our future heating needs!

Worse Company ever RICK the owner very rude , not professional they said a diffrent Price before coming over than they charge you $25.00 fee and 3.5% credit card fees. NO THEY DONT EVER TELL you Anything UPFRONT THESE GUYS ARE RIPPOFF RUN RUN RUN they just want to collect money and not even do the job wanted to charge me $7000 to replace my unit which i got done by someone else for 200$ refil my unit with R_22. WHich they wanted to charge me $100 per pound for 6 pounds RIP OFF RUN

I just had my homes oil furnace/boiler to baseray heating system replaced due to pin hole leaks in the piping buried in the slab, boiler inefficiency and wanting the convenience of central air. Rick is always very patient, kind, knowledgable and never tries to sell you more than what you need. The guys were excellent! On time, super friendly, no breaks-just flat out work, super knowledgable as well and they cleaned up their mess at the end of each day. They took me through everything and answered all my questions. Cost came in a little lower than estimated. Woo-hoo! I had used these guys on a previous home for furnace maintenance for nearly 20 years. I will continue to hire them for anything I need in the future. Great experience and I love my new system!!! I highly recommend.

I have used R&W Heating on 2 of my home systems and at my office. R&W recently they replaced our oil furnace at the company. R&W strongly recommended us to go with Viessmann Model Furnace. For a few dollars more, the new furnace is so efficient it barley runs saving us a ton in fuel cost. Their team did a fantastic job as always.

We had central air installed in our home by R&W Heating and from beginning to end, we were beyond pleased with the process. From working with Rick, the owner, to our interactions and communication with Kyle and Greg, the HVAC technicians, there was a level of professionalism, knowledge, and care that went into this entire project. This was a big undertaking and a lengthy job and we couldn't be happier with the quality of work from start to finish. We highly recommend R&W Heating to anyone looking for high quality service and professionalism!
